Dive Deep: A Pro’s Journey

Ahoy, fellow bubblemakers and sea enthusiasts! Buckle up (or should I say, strap on your BCD?) for a deep dive into my underwater résumé.

I’m not just a fish whisperer – I’m a full-fledged dive education maestro! Picture this:

  • PADI IDC Staff Instructor (fancy talk for “can teach you to teach others to blow bubbles”)
  • SSI Dive Control Specialist Instructor (try saying that five times underwater!)
  • Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer (because safety is sexy)
  • DAN Oxygen First Aid and Hazardous Marine Life Injury Instructor (say that without taking a breath!)

The Origin Story: From Landlubber to Underwater Wonder

It all began in the crystal-clear waters of Phi Phi Islands, Thailand. One fateful plunge, and BOOM! I was hooked faster than you can say “descend.” The rest, as they say, is salty history. Before you could spell “decompression,” I was back at Phi Phi, this time as the instructor. Talk about a full-circle moment!

Numbers That’ll Make Your Dive Computer Spin

  • 10,000+ logged dives across Europe and Asia (and that’s not counting the times I’ve played underwater shepherd to my students)
  • 1,000+ certifications issued (PADI, SSI, EFR, DAN – I collect agency affiliations like some collect dive site maps!)

Linguistic Acrobatics

I don’t just speak ‘bubble’ – I’m fluent in:

  • Norwegian 🇳🇴
  • Swedish 🇸🇪
  • Danish 🇩🇰
  • English 🇬🇧

So whether you’re saying “dykke,” “dyka,” “dykke,” or “dive,” I’ve got you covered!

My Underwater Degree: From Guppy to Guru

Hold onto your fins, folks! Here’s the tale of how I evolved from a curious landlubber to a full-fledged underwater professor:

2003: The year I took the plunge! Open Water, Advanced Open Water, EFR, and Rescue Diver with PADI. Talk about a busy year!

2005: Leveled up to Divemaster and Instructor status. Also became an EFR guru (adults AND kiddos) and collected specialties like Pokemon cards: PPB, Project AWARE (regular AND coral reef flavors), and Oxygen Provider with DAN.

2006: The year of the specialties! Racked up Deep Diver, Multilevel Diver, Underwater Naturalist, Night Diver, Wreck Diver, Boat Diver, Drift Diver, Fish ID, Underwater Navigator, and Enriched Air. Phew! Also became a Master Scuba Diver Trainer and IDC Staff Instructor with PADI, and a Dive Control Specialist Instructor with SSI.

2007: Reached boss level as an EFR Instructor Trainer and DAN First Aid for HMLI Instructor. Added Search and Recovery, Digital Underwater Photo, and Oxygen Provider Instructor to my belt of specialties.

My Underwater Office: Where the Dress Code is Always Wetsuit

2002-2003: Scandinavian Divers, Phuket – Dive Instructor (My first plunge into the professional diving world. Talk about starting with a splash!)

2003-2007: Island Divers, Phi Phi Islands – Instructor (Yes, the same place that hooked me on diving. Talk about a dream job!)

2007: Bastianos Bunaken, Sulawesi – Dive Resort Manager (A short but sweet gig in the heart of the Coral Triangle)

2007-2011: Barefoot Scuba, Andaman Islands – Dive Resort Director (Climbed the ladder to the top. Who says you can’t have a corner office underwater?)

From student to director, I’ve seen it all – above and below the surface. Ready to dive into an adventure with a pro who’s lived and breathed scuba? Let’s make some bubbles! 🫧🏊‍♂️

Ready to take the plunge with a dive pro who’s seen more fish than Nemo? Let’s make some waves together!
